Over the course of seven years, “Veselības centru apvienība” (VCA) has invested a total of €850,000 in its medical residency program. In 2024 alone, the annual investment reached €170,000, and by 2025, the company’s total contribution to medical education in Latvia will exceed one million euros.
According to Anita Kamenščikova, director of the VCA “Aura” clinic and head of the residency program, today’s medical residents play a crucial role in ensuring generational continuity in the healthcare sector. VCA also aims to provide future employment for its specialists in high-demand fields – such as cardiology, dermatology, neurology, infectious diseases, and rheumatology – not only in Riga, but also in Liepāja and Daugavpils.
Over the past seven years, 50 young doctors have participated in the VCA residency program, receiving financial support and gaining valuable experience in outpatient care of patients. These include radiologists, endocrinologists, gynecologists, traumatologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, neurologists, ophthalmologists, and more. Many of these doctors have chosen to continue their careers at VCA after completing their residencies, highlighting the organization’s modern work environment and collegial atmosphere as key factors in their professional growth.
