Support for Ukraine

Since February 2022, when Russia begun its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, companies within the “AB City” group have been consistently supporting Ukraine and its people through a range of initiatives.

In the first days of the war, donations and shipments of medical supplies were organized and sent to Ukraine. This support has continued through cooperation with various Ukrainian aid organizations in Latvia, providing both financial contributions and donations of supplies and vehicles. Latvian pharmaceutical manufacturer "Olpha" regularly donates funds to the association “SICH” and has also donated medical supplies and a large passenger bus.

“Centrālā laboratorija” covers co-payments for blood sample collection for Ukrainian citizens who are entitled to receive state-funded healthcare services in Latvia, including laboratory tests.

In February 2022, “Mēness aptieka” delivered its first aid shipment to those affected by the war in Ukraine, which included 10,000 packs of medical gauze bandages and 10,000 pairs of disposable medical gloves. In March 2022, additional support worth €120,000 was provided in the form of first-aid medications delivered to Ukraine with the support of the Ministry of Defense and the NGO “Viegli palīdzēt” (“Easy to Help”).

In August 2023, rehabilitation doctors and physiotherapists from Ukraine visited the Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Department at the “Aura” clinic of the "Veselības centru apvienība" for an exchange of experience visit. These healthcare professionals, whose daily work is often especially challenging due to wartime conditions in Ukraine, were particularly interested in the services provided, pain and anti-inflammatory treatment methods, medical education practices in Latvia, and how multidisciplinary outpatient rehabilitation teams are organized in our country.

The “AB City” group also offers employment opportunities in Latvia to Ukrainian refugees.
