With the support of “Mēness aptieka”, a heart shaped flower bed has been unveiled at the Latvian Cardiology Centre

This summer, “Mēness aptieka” have decorated with roses the flower bed in a shape of heat at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, which has been cherished by patients and medical staff for years, reminding about importance of the heart health and encouraging to greater involvement in its prevention.

At the opening of flower bed on June 19 several health experts, including professor Andrejs Ērglis, Head of the Latvian Cardiology Center, Lauris Vidzis, Chairman of the Board of Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, Inese Mauriņa, Head of the patient association ParSirdi.lv,’as well as “Mēness aptieka” pharmacists Ieva Virza and Evita Lārmane gathered to share insipring tips for heart health.

Just over half (56 %) of Latvian residents would change their lifestyle if a doctor informed them they showed early signs of cardiovascular disease, according to a recent survey conducted by “Mēness aptieka” and the research agency Norstat. 39 % of respondents said they might make lifestyle improvements or were unsure how they would respond, while the remaining - less than one in ten - believed they would not change anything.

“Healthy habits and lifestyle changes are a daily investment. We can compare them to the patience required to carefully tend a garden over many years,” says Ieva Virza, a pharmacist at “Mēness aptieka”, encouraging people to take care of their heart health.

Every June, "Mēness aptieka" highlights important issues related to cardiovascular diseases and their prevention, conducts public opinion surveys, and, in collaboration with doctors, encourages greater use of preventive measures to support heart health.
