The “Inclusive Marathon,” supported by “Meness aptieka,” concluded with 1000 medals.

Once again, the Riga marathon hosted the “Inclusive marathon” program, which attracted over 1000 participants with physical and functional disabilities, as well as their assistants.

The program is part of the “Rimi” Riga marathon, the largest running festival in the Baltics, and was developed in collaboration with “Mēness aptieka” and the Latvian Paralympic Committee. This year, the program allowed more than 1000 participants to compete at a distance suited to their abilities.

For several years, the marathon has brought together athletes from various organizations, including children and young adults with physical and functional disabilities. Since 2024, the program has been expanded with support from “Mēness aptieka,” encouraging organizations that support people with physical and functional disabilities to participate in the event. In celebration of the marathons 35th anniversary, organizers invited organizations and individuals from across Latvia to register for the marathons together with their assistants.

Since 1991, the Riga marathon has attracted tens of thousands of runners from around the world to the Latvian capital every year. This year, more than 40 000 runners from over 100 countries participated in the marathon.
