Several healthcare professionals from AB City group companies were honored with state awards at a formal ceremony for their significant contributions to the sector.
To honor outstanding professionals in healthcare, public health, and pharmacy for their meaningful contributions to strengthening and developing Latvia’s health system, certificates of recognition and certificates of appreciation from the Ministry of health were awarded at a ceremonial event on November 7.
Awarded with the Ministry of health certificate of recognition:
- Gaļina Čui, gastroenterologist and endoscopist at Veselības centru apvienība (VCA), for her lifetime contribution, dedicated and responsible work that has significantly improved the quality of endoscopic examinations and contributed to the development of the field in Latvia.
- Rafaels Visams, traumatologist-orthopedist at VCA surgical clinic AIWA Clinic, for his dedicated, professional, and long-term work in traumatology and orthopedics, his important contribution to improving patients’ health, as well as his strong sense of responsibility and empathy in daily work.
- Ludmila Fiļipčenko, laboratory physician at Centrālā laboratorija (CL), for her long-term and significant contribution to laboratory medicine, physician continuing education, training of new specialists, and the successful operation of CL.
Awarded with the Ministry of health certificate of appreciation:
- Juris Bundulis, chairman of the board of Olpha AS, for his remarkable contributions to healthcare and the pharmaceutical sector.
- Maksims Mukāns, general surgeon and bariatric surgeon at VCA surgical clinic AIWA Clinic, for his important input to the development of bariatric medicine in Latvia.
- Jānis Mednieks, neurologist and electroencephalography specialist at VCA health clinic Pļavnieki, for his outstanding contribution to the development of the VCA Neuroclinic and the improvement of neurology services in Latvia.
- Karlīna Elksne, VCA gynecologist and obstetrician, for her significant contribution to the improvement of women’s reproductive healthcare, public education, and promoting access to quality healthcare.
- Oļesja Basina, VCA leading gastroenterology specialist, for her professional work and effort to implementing unified quality standards in the diagnosis and treatment of gastroenterological patients.
- Velta Katkeviča, CL laboratory specialist, for her important contribution to laboratory medicine and the successful operation of CL.
- Aigija Birģele, CL outpatient care nurse, for her valuable role in promoting high-quality outpatient laboratory care and the development of CL’s home visit service.
- Inta Jansone, pharmacy assistant at Mēness aptieka, for her stable, long-term, professionally reliable, and initiative-rich work in the pharmacy and her commitment to promote health of residents of Bauska and the surrounding area.
- Ērika Pētersone, pharmacist at Sentor Farm Aptiekas, for her input to improving access to medicines and promoting public awareness in the field of health.
The awards are presented twice a year for valuable effort to the development of the healthcare sector, improvement of public health, disease prevention and public education, as well as raising awareness of health issues in society.
