Riga Pharmaceutical Factory triples shot production capacity for export markets

Latvian pharmaceutical manufacturer AS Riga Pharmaceutical Factory (RFF) has invested €200,000 in a new production line for food supplements, increasing the company’s production capacity in the shot-format product category by 170%. The new line will enable RFF to produce up to 2,700 shot bottles per hour, or approximately four million bottles annually. A significant share of the additional capacity is planned to support export orders for European markets.

“Riga Pharmaceutical Factory has an impressive 76-year history and strong manufacturing traditions, which we combine with the ability to respond quickly to market demand and develop new product formats. By developing locally manufactured pharmaceutical products, we are producing innovative shot-format products not only for the Latvian market but also for customers across Europe. In a short period of time, we have established a strong presence for this new product format in export markets. We currently export 20% of our production, with the goal of further increasing both production volumes and export turnover. Most of the newly added capacity will be used to manufacture products for export markets, including Poland, Germany, Denmark, France and other European countries,” says Liene Puriņa, Director of RFF.

Augot pieprasījumam pēc ērti lietojamiem, precīzi dozētiem uztura bagātinātājiem, RFF ar jauno ražošanas līniju paplašinās savu ražošanas formātu klāstu un kāpinās jaudas vienā no straujāk augošajām produktu kategorijām. Jaunajā līnijā vienas stundas laikā varēs saražot 2700 šotu pudelīšu, bet vienā darbinieku maiņā gada laikā aptuveni četrus miljonus 25 ml pudelīšu.

“Previously, limited production capacity was the main constraint preventing us from meeting all demand in this product category. With the new production line, we are not only significantly reducing production times, but also gaining greater flexibility in fulfilling orders and improving operational efficiency. This also opens up opportunities for contract manufacturing and cooperation with companies that want to manufacture their products with us while bringing them to market under their own brand or design. We see significant potential in this segment as well,” explains Liene Puriņa, Director of RFF.

The new production line is designed to manufacture a range of liquid food supplements, including products supporting immunity, energy, beauty and nervous system health. The additional production capacity will enable RFF not only to increase output of its existing products, but also to respond more flexibly to export and private-label orders.

AS Riga Pharmaceutical Factory (RFF) is one of the Baltic region’s most experienced manufacturers of healthcare and preventive health products, employing 75 people. The company’s portfolio of 168 products includes medicines based on natural ingredients, both prescription and over-the-counter, as well as food supplements, herbal teas and cosmetics. At the same time, RFF is strategically expanding its export operations and strengthening its position in international markets. In 2025, the company exported an average of 20% of its total production.
