Continuing its efforts to ensure high-quality and accessible pharmaceutical care in Latvia, "Mēness aptieka" (AS "Sentor Farm aptiekas") invested more than 1.1 million euros in 2024 in the reconstruction of 16 pharmacies across different regions of the country. The renovation works included both improvements to the premises and the introduction of modern design solutions, as well as enhancements to the working environment for pharmaceutical specialists. In seven pharmacies, self-service areas were also created, improving customer service and care.
“Pharmacists are the most accessible healthcare professionals in Latvia, and their role in the healthcare system is becoming increasingly important. Our goal is to ensure that professional pharmaceutical care and access to medicines are available to people both in cities and in regions. That is why we are investing in modernizing and improving the regional accessibility of pharmacies. These improvements will create a more convenient, pleasant, and professional environment for visitors and pharmacists alike. Although the past few years have been challenging for the sector, we will continue to prioritize the development of pharmaceutical care infrastructure, the continuity of medicine availability, and support for the professional growth of pharmacists,” said Vilma Fairclough, Chairwoman of the Board of AS Sentor Farm aptiekas.
AS Sentor Farm aptiekas, which manages the "Mēness aptieka" brand, is one of the largest employers in the pharmaceutical sector in Latvia. The company employs more than 1,200 people, of whom over 800 are certified pharmaceutical specialists. In 2024, 40 pharmaceutical continuing education programs were implemented, and for the eighth year in a row, the company has also provided financial support to pharmacy students by covering the costs of obtaining professional education at colleges.
In 2024, two certified pharmacists from "Mēness aptieka" received the highest professional recognition - the Latvian Pharmacists’ Association award “Pharmacist of the Year 2024”. At the end of the year, the company was also granted the status of a “Family-Friendly Workplace”.
