“Mēness aptieka” introduces offline payment option to ensure continuity of pharmaceutical care

To strengthen operational resilience and ensure uninterrupted access to pharmaceutical services, including in emergency situations, "Mēness aptieka" has introduced an offline payment solution across all its pharmacies in Latvia, in line with regulatory requirements for the management of critical financial services. This solution enables customers to pay for essential medicines even in situations where online payment systems are temporarily unavailable due to technical disruptions, communication outages, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Cashless payments have become a standard and convenient method for the majority of society. However, in emergency situations - such as network disruptions or cybersecurity incidents - traditional payment channels may be limited. The newly implemented offline functionality allows "Mēness aptieka" to continue serving customers, ensuring access to medicines and other essential health products under such conditions.

“Pharmaceutical care is a critically important service, and its continuity in crisis situations is of particular importance. By introducing offline payment capabilities, we are strengthening both our operational resilience and public confidence that essential medicines will remain accessible under any circumstances,” emphasised Jeļena Petrišina, member of the management board of “Mēness aptieka”.

The offline payment solution operates within a secure environment and complies with financial security requirements. Once connectivity is restored, transaction data is synchronised with banking systems, ensuring accurate, secure, and transparent processing.

This initiative forms part of a broader set of measures implemented by "Mēness aptieka" to enhance business continuity and contribute to the overall resilience of the healthcare system. The company continues to invest in infrastructure, digital solutions, and employee training, as well as in modern technologies that improve customer convenience, ensuring high-quality and accessible pharmaceutical care throughout Latvia.
