Continuing its collaboration with the Olaine Municipality, the Latvian pharmaceutical company AS “Olpha” has provided another 200 baby care packages to families in the Olaine region. Over two years, the company has delivered 400 packages, with the total donation value reaching €20,000. Each package contains essential items for newborn care, such as a blanket, bib, hygiene products, and clothing, with an individual package valued at €50.
“As a father of four and grandfather of three, I understand the importance of every bit of support in building a family’s collection of necessities for a newborn. This summer, we rebranded from AS ‘Olainfarm’ to AS ‘Olpha,’ while maintaining our connection to Olaine and Latvia. Alongside expanding into Western markets to make our medicines accessible to patients across Europe, I am proud that we can continue investing in the local community in collaboration with the Olaine Municipality. This project is a lasting, sustainable, and heartfelt initiative to support local families, further emphasizing that we are closer and always within reach,” says Juris Bundulis, Chairman of the Board of AS “Olpha.”
Bundulis emphasizes that every child and their parents deserve support from the very first days of life. By continuing the tradition of distributing baby care packages, “Olpha” reaffirms its commitment to strengthening ties with the region and positively impacting the local community. The company’s social responsibility initiatives focus on children's and youth health, support for teachers and education, active lifestyles, and improving demographic conditions. This summer, “Olpha” introduced a new brand and slogan, Closer to You, symbolizing openness, simplicity, and a people-centered approach. This message reflects not only accessible healthcare but also active engagement in improving local community life. The baby care package initiative exemplifies the company’s collaboration with the region.
“Our municipality is delighted to welcome every family that chooses Olaine as their home. Our region is active, green, family-friendly, and industrial, offering diverse job opportunities in manufacturing companies. As a relatively small but promising municipality near Riga, it is crucial for us to create a supportive environment for families and to show each new resident that they are warmly welcomed. In addition to the ‘Olpha’ baby care package and financial support, our newborns also receive a specially minted silver coin – Laimes mātes vērdiņš (Mother of Fortune’s Coin) – as a symbol of Latvian heritage and a wish for good fortune as they enter the world. We are grateful that companies like AS ‘Olpha’ support local families during such a special time. Together, we are building a stronger and friendlier Olaine region, where everyone can feel valued and included,” says Ģirts Batrags, Executive Director of the Olaine Municipality.
AS “Olpha” is the largest employer and taxpayer in the Olaine region. The company also provides its employees with similar baby care packages and a financial benefit of €250 upon the birth of a child. Approximately 200 children are born in the region each year. The first 200 packages were distributed between June 2023 and August 2024. Parents receive the packages upon registering their newborn at the Olaine Municipality Civil Registry Office.
