Jeļena Storoženko, board member of the Baltic region's most modern clinical laboratory, Central Laboratory, and Associate Professor at Riga Stradiņš University, has received a special award from the Latvian Medical Association (LMA) “Medical Award of the Year 2024” for her significant contribution to medical education and laboratory diagnostics development through the publication of “Laboratory Tests in the Diagnosis of Various Diseases.”

“I am truly honored to represent all the authors of this book, including Central Laboratory, and to receive such a significant award. We sincerely hope this book will be useful to all doctors, including those in training, in their practical work,” said Jeļena Storoženko upon receiving the award.

“The esteemed professor has successfully led the work of 21 co-authors, creating a book rich with valuable knowledge that deserves a place of honor in every doctor's office. I hope the book will be published in new, expanded editions at least every five years,” noted LMA Vice President Māris Pļaviņš, adding that it is the most valuable laboratory publication in Latvian medicine in the past century.

Published with support from Central Laboratory by “Medicīnas apgāds,” the book is Latvia's first and only collection of this scale that compiles essential information about laboratory diagnostic indicators and their interpretation. The book serves as a guide for both aspiring and practicing doctors and healthcare professionals, helping to improve diagnostic methods, select appropriate treatments promptly, and implement quality monitoring of patients' health conditions.
