With more than €27,500 raised through donations from “Mēness aptieka”, the children have been provided with the necessary assistive devices. These devices significantly ease their daily lives and improve mobility for both the children and their parents.**\n\n> “Behind every family we have been able to support is a story of everyday challenges where the right assistive device can make a meaningful difference. It can give a child the opportunity to move around more independently, leave the house, attend rehabilitation sessions or stay connected with their family. When we launched the “Mission of Kindness”, we wanted not only to provide practical support, but also to inspire positive change in society and encourage people to take an active role in making a difference. We believe that everyone can be part of the solution, and the bridge between needs and opportunities that the “Mission of Kindness” is building becomes stronger with every person who joins us,” says **Jeļena Petrišina, Member of the Management Board of “Mēness aptieka”.**\n\nThe programme aims to support families in situations where the public healthcare and social support system does not provide sufficient funding for individually tailored assistive devices for children. “Mēness aptieka” makes regular donations for every product purchased in its pharmacies bearing the “Mission of Kindness” logo and provides an opportunity for customers to donate through Latvian Children’s Fund donation boxes placed in “Mēness aptieka” pharmacies. Members of the public are also invited to support the programme by making a donation through the Latvian Children’s Fund website: https:\u002F\u002Flbf.lv\u002Fatbalsts-gimenem\u002F.\n\nThe programme addresses a wide range of often complex everyday needs and challenges. In many cases, the home environment itself can create additional barriers. For example, with support from the programme, a tracked stairlift was installed in the stairwell of the family home of 17-year-old Lada from Ventspils, enabling her and her mother, Olga, to participate in everyday life outside the home and attend rehabilitation sessions. The stairlift allows Lada to be safely transported in her wheelchair up and down the stairs.\n\n> “Our lives have changed. Thanks to the stairlift, we can go outside again and take part in activities. Something as simple as being able to leave the house is a source of happiness – something people sometimes take for granted,” says Lada’s mother, Olga.\n\n> **Andris Bērziņš, Member of the Management Board of the Latvian Children’s Fund:** “From the perspective of the families receiving support, this assistance is about much more than practical help. It is also a sign that society cares about the inclusion and quality of life of children with functional impairments, and that these families are not alone in facing their challenges. In many cases, medicine cannot fully cure a child’s condition, but together we can make a difference in other ways and significantly improve the quality of life for both children and their parents. Several more children are currently waiting for support through the programme.
